Canada’s SPACE channel today confirmed that it will be airing the new Doctor Who spinoff “Class” on their channel beginning October 22nd.
Class is created and written by Patrick Ness, who also produces alongside Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat, and Brian Minchin. The first season will consist of eight episodes, and will air on SPACE the same day as it is set to premiere on BBC Three in the UK.
The series will be set in Coal Hill Academy, a fictional school that has been regularly featured in Doctor Who since its original 1963 serial, and will focus on six of its students and staff members, including Mr. Armitage (Nigel Betts), a minor recurring character from the eighth series of Doctor Who.
Greg Austin, Fady Elsayed, Sophie Hopkins and Vivian Oparah are set to star as four Sixth Formers; while Katherine Kelly (Coronation Street, Mr. Selfridge) will play Miss Quill, a Coal Hill Academy teacher. Nigel Betts is set to reprise his role as Mr. Armitage from “Into the Dalek”. Paul Marc Davis and Anna Shaffer are also schedule to be part of the main cast. It was also recently revealed that Peter Capaldi will appear as the Twelfth Doctor in the series very first episode.
