Editor’s Thoughts on Series 9 Part II

Whotopia’s illustrious Editor and long-time series fan, Bob Furnell continues his marathon watching of “Doctor Who” series nine.  In part-two of his look at the ninth series, Bob continues to offer his thoughts on the season’s past episodes:

I finished watching the most recent season a few weeks back but thought I’d update our readers on what I thought of Doctor Who Series 9.  Here’s my quick rundown and ratings of what I think…

  • The Zygon Invasionreally enjoyed this one. 7.5/10
  • The Zygon Inversionexcellent continuation of the story. 8/10
  • Sleep No Morethis one was rather creepy and scary.  I could see this one scaring the pants off some people.  8/10
  • Face The Raveninteresting premise, but kind of bland. 5/10
  • Heaven SentHmm, not sure what to make of this one.  Interesting yet... 6/10
  • Hell BentI’m not sure if this episode is brilliant or utter crap. 5/10
  • The Husbands of River Songwhat a pile of horse do-do.  I turned the DVD off after 20 minutes.  0/10

Advice to Stephen Moffat – “The sooner we see the back of you, the better.”

General thoughts on the season – Overall it wasn’t a bad season, but at the same time it wasn’t a great season.  Moffat continues to demonstrate that he really doesn’t understand Doctor Who as a concept and continues to ruin the show making it a pale imitation of the classic series.  Glad to see the back of Clara.  Capaldi has improved as the twelfth Doctor.  He’s not as grating or as annoying as in season 8, but IMHO still one of the worse versions of the character yet.

Season average overall: 6.0/10
